He Tells Us the Same Thing
| Although His enemies
tried to find fault with him concerning the woman taken in adultery (John
8), Jesus showed wisdom in His manner of dealing with everyone involved.
He neither violated Jewish nor Roman law, did not accommodate the woman's
accusers, nor showed indifference to her sin. He manifested great
compassion and provided forgiveness while focusing attention on the sins
of the accusers.
As He and the woman parted company He simply told her, "Go and sin no more." Is that not His direction to every forgiven person? When we come from the waters of baptism, when we have prayed as God's child for forgiveness, as we go about the various duties of life, does He not urge us, "Go and sin no more?"
