Second Opinion

Often it is recommended when there is a problem diagnosing an illness to not only consult one reliable source but get a second opinion from another reliable source. When the two agree that just about settles the matter. Of course, human opinions are always subject to mistakes but most doctors do their very best to get it right.

When it comes to matters of the soul we do not want human opinions but inspired revelation. Thankfully, we have just exactly that. For instance, the writer of Hebrews 11:6 (probably Paul) tells us, "But without faith it is impossible to please him..." Whoever wrote it, it came by and through the Holy Spirit. Then Jesus also said, John 8:24, "...for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." No greater authority ever existed than the Son of God.

That settles it, doesn't it? We must believe in Christ. That is not all, unless you define faith as obedient faith. But how much more testimony does a rational mind need to know that he must have faith in Christ to be saved?
