Speculation is no Help

Some talk glibly about staying within what God has revealed without adding to or taking from what He says. Their talk is good sense. But what about their practice? Too many are too willing to inject their guesswork about many things and act indignantly when others do not accept it.

Why did Nicodemus come by night? We do not know and what difference does it make? Was Cornelius under the same Patriarchal Law as Abraham? We are not told. It does not affect us anyway. Just precisely what will be the nature of our body at the resurrection? Other than the revelation that it will be a spiritual body properly adapted to whatever God decides, we are not informed. It really does not matter. God will handle it.

These are just three of many areas where people wish to put in their views as if they knew. It happens so often when someone is relating a historical event and they enlarge upon what we can know maybe to make it seem more real or sensational. All that is distracting to learning the truth.

Take the text. Stay with the text. Leave out your "maybe's" and "could b'es" and you will do better. Why try to "improve" on what is revealed?
