"THE" Faith in Luke 18:8 |
||
The word
"faith" used in different senses in Scripture. It can mean
belief (Heb. 11:6), one's personal conviction (Rom 14:34), or refer to THE
faith, the gospel system (Jude 3). Faith appears in Luke 18:8 where Jesus
asks, "Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, will he find faith on
the earth?"
It may mean belief, but the word THE appears before the word faith in the Greek. Of course, without THE faith there could not be belief (Rom. 1:17; 10:17). Luke 18: 8 speaks of THE faith. Will THE faith exist when He comes? Yes, the Word of the Lord endureth forever (1 Pet. 1:25). Will there be believers when He comes? Paul implies there will be (1 Th. 4:`17). So the real question before us is not whether THE faith will exist, or if there will be anybody that believes it, but will you and I be one of those who believe? |
