Their Authority |

It is disappointing that some deny that elders have authority. The very fact they are to rule shows they have authority to carry out their God-given functions. If they did not have authority, then the very purposes for which they are appointed could not be expedited. There is no more awesome responsibility on human beings than doing the work of elders. They shall give account for everyone in their charge (Hebrews 13:17). Paul calls it a "good work" (First Timothy 3:1). God has delegated to them sufficient authority to to that work.
