A Memorial to Christ |
||
"This do in
remembrance of me." This was the Lord's teaching to His disciples
regarding the Lord's Supper that was to be observed once the kingdom came.
It commemorates the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, that which
He has done on our behalf and without which there could be no salvation
for mankind.
He gave Himself willingly and according to the will of the Father. This was Deity's part in Deity's plan for saving man. Now we must obey the commands He gives in order to benefit from His sacrifice. As we bask in the sunshine of His love, we acknowledge what He did each Lord's Day as He has taught through the apostles as we gather together in worship at the Lord's Table. How grateful we can be for what He did and that we are privileged to honor Him in this memorial. |
