A Necessary Recognition |
||
In Luke 16 we read
of the rich man and Lazarus. Too late the rich man recognized something he
should have recognized while living. He should have recognized the
authority of the Word of God. He evidently thought he could disobey and
all still be well with him. In hades he learned differently. He also
learned that his brothers who still lived had to recognize that also.
At the time this man lived the Law of Moses was God's authority for him. Today all mankind must respect the gospel of Christ inasmuch as He has all authority (Matt. 28: 18) and God speaks through Him (Heb. 1: 1 2). To disobey the gospel is to disobey the power of God unto salvation (Rom. 1: 16). Shall we, like the rich man, wait too long to recognize this authority and submit ourselves to the will of the Lord? There is no other way. |
