All Traditions Are Not Bad |
||
The Bible student is
aware of the condemnation of Jesus of those who made the commandments of
God of none effect by their traditions (Matt. 15: 6). Paul warned against
the traditions of men (Co. 3: 8). A tradition is that teaching or practice
that has been handed down. Not all traditions are evil.
Paul taught a tradition that MUST be followed (2 Thess. 2: 15). Those who did not walk after the tradition he taught were to be disciplined (2 Thess. 3: 6). There are family and national traditions that are irrelevant to our service to God and are not bad in themselves. But anything that is contrary to the tradition of the gospel must be shunned. Then traditions become hindrances to us and make God's Word of none effect in our lives. |
