And the Door Was Shut |
||
The title is a
phrase found in Matthew 25: 10 in the teaching of Jesus about the
ten virgins and the theme of proper preparation for His coming. You can
hear a lesson about this in Category 42, Lesson 124. The failure to
prepare was the undoing and doom of those who thought they could get by
without it.
When the Lord comes again all will be raised and judged (John 5: 28, 29). This includes those in the church as depicted in this passage. Some carry as little "oil" as they think they can and be safe. Others make the adequate preparation and shall enter into the feast with the Lord. As for the foolish ones, the time will have come that the door is shut and they shall not enter. What a disturbing end and with such finality. It did not have to be that way. It does not have to be that way for me and you. We have time and opportunity to prepare to meet the Lord when He comes in glory by and by. How many will be wise enough to do it? |
