Another Holy Ground |
||
Bible students are
familiar with the words of God to Moses at the burning bush to remove his
shoes because he was standing on holy ground. But there is another much
less familiar instance of a similar situation regarding Joshua and
"the captain of the Lord's host", as recorded in Joshua chapter
five. While there are many opinions as to the identity of this captain it
is most often suggested that is was the second person of the Godhead. Be
that as it may, the captain was of Deity because Joshua worshipped Him and
knew he was His servant.
This event assured Joshua of God's support and guidance as he embarked on the task of taking Canaan just as it was an assurance to Moses regarding his task of delivering Israel from Egypt when the Lord appeared to him at the burning bush. |
