As Bad As They Were |
||
God saw the
situation with the antediluvian world. As wicked, undeserving and sinful
as they were God was concerned for them as He has always been for the
souls of people. Sacred history records their punishment, but it also
records God giving them opportunity to repent.
Noah is called a "preacher of righteousness" (2 Pet. 2:5). Through Noah the Spirit of God did strive with man (Gen. 6: 3). Hebrews 11: 7 tells us Noah "condemned the world," warning of the destruction impending due to sin. Indications are that this man of faith spent 120 years warning his fellowman of God's wrath against evil, but to no avail. God was longsuffering, "not willing that any should perish", but there came the time when God's holiness demanded that justice be done. So we have the record of the great worldwide flood. |
