Avoiding Judgment |
||
There is no way to
avoid the final judgment. That is not under consideration. But judgment
can mean condemnation. This we can avoid. How? By first judging ourselves
according to God's standard and making whatever adjustments that should be
made in our lives (1 Cor. 11:3). Paul was teaching concerning partaking of
the Lord's Supper properly. If we would examine ourselves (verse 28) we
could avoid God's disapproval.
Two things are implied in this instruction. (1) We will be honest and use the correct standard of measure. (2) We will conform to what the standard requires. Those who want to please the Lord will strive to do both.. |
