Baptism of Fire |
||
There is a baptism
of fire (Matt. 3: 11). It is a baptism Christ administers. It will occur
when the Lord gathers unto His garner His wheat and the beginning of
unquenchable fire. This will occur when there is the separation of the
wheat from the chaff. It will also be the time when the sheep are
separated from the goats. It is similar to the judgment scene presented in
Matthew chapter twenty-five where is mentioned everlasting fire.
The baptism of fire is the description of the punishment of the lost. This is yet future. This is not that which took place on Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles. Nor is it the one baptism of which Paul writes in Ephesians chapter four. It is that which is to be avoided. |
