Both Have a Duty |
||
When there is
preaching both the preacher and hearer have a duty that cannot be brushed
aside. The preacher has the duty to preach the truth, and the hearer has
the duty to "search the scriptures" to see whether or not the
truth has been preached.
The preacher must say, "Woe unto me if I preach not the gospel" (1 Cor. 9: 16). The hearer must listen to Jesus when He admonishes, "Take heed how you hear" (Lk. 8: 18). Our energies are better spent studying the Word, learning the truth, preaching the truth and measuring all things by the truth than to waste time seeking ways to avoid the impact of truth. What some people never seem to realize is that regardless of what they say or think God's truth is God's truth and nothing they can do will change it regardless of how hard they try. |
