Chapter Two |
||
It is just a
coincidence. God did not arrange for the second chapter of certain books
to relate to the same theme. Men divided the Bible into chapters and
verses and we are benefited greatly because of that even though sometimes
it creates problems. But here is something you can keep before you in
studying about the church.
Isaiah two foretold the Lord's house (the church; 1 Tim. 1:15) to begin in the last days in Jerusalem and all nations would flow into it, learning peace. Joel two promised the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the last days which Peter said was fulfilled on Pentecost. Daniel two reports the dream of Nebuchadnezzar which Daniel interpreted to tell when the kingdom of God (the church; Col. 1:13) would be established, namely, in the days of the fourth kingdom that was represented in the king's dream. Acts two tells of the fulfillment of all these prophecies and promises in the Old Testament passages. On Pentecost the promised church became a reality. |
