Confession and Proof |

Mark nine relates
the event when Jesus restored sight for two blind men. Jesus was passing
by and the blind men cried out to him, "Thou son of David, have mercy
on us." It was generally understood that the Messiah would come from
the lineage of David. So the cry of the blind men was an acknowledgement
of their conviction that Jesus was the promised Messiah for which the Jews
longingly looked.
The Lord asked if they believed He could restore their sight and they said they did. Then Jesus touched their eyes and, miraculously, they could see. It had been prophesied that the Messiah would do such things (Isaiah 35: 5). Once again we observe how the miracles of Jesus proved He was who He claimed to be, and who many recognized Him to be. That same proof abides today for us in this record. |
