Dogs and Swine |
||
Matthew 7:6,
"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your
pearls before swine; lest they trample them under their feet, and turn
again and rend you." Dogs and swine are beasts and have no sense of
appreciation for things sacred. They have no power of discernment between
things holy and anything else. They have no sense of values regarding such
things that relate to the soul and the spirit of human beings. When
something valuable is placed before them they might ignore it or treat it
as if it had no value. They show no respect or concern for the refined
than they do the unrefined and worthless. To them a garbage can is as
valuable as a finely set dinner table. Dogs and swine will trample under
foot things that are precious, not realizing or caring about what they do.
The way of truth the disciples were to go and teach was holy, sacred and deserving of respect. But He knew there would be those who were so evil, profane, impious and wicked that some would not be reluctant to treat it with contempt. Do we not see this being done so often today? How long should God's truth be placed before them seeing how they treat it? |
