Even on His Family |
||
There are people who
are so diabolically selfish that they do not care how their behavior
affects anybody else, even those of their own family. How many fathers and
mothers are so self-seeking that they do not care for their children
properly but only seek to satisfy what they want? Achan of Israel was such
a man.
When Israel took Jericho they were commanded not to take the spoils for personal use because it belonged to the treasury of God. Achan ignored that command and brought destruction on himself, his family, and a disgrace to all of Israel. How many "Achan" are running loose among us even yet? It would seem only reasonable that a person would care what he did to those near and dear to him. But selfishness is seldom reasonable. |
