Ezekiel Used Two Sticks |
||
Two sticks, one
representing Northern Israel and the other Southern Judah, were joined
into one stick (Ezek. 37). The meaning was that the two would be made one
nation. David would reign over them. David had been dead many years at the
time. To mention David was reference to the descendant of David, Jesus
Christ, who would reign as King and they would have eternal fellowship
with God in His kingdom which is the church. He would reconcile the two
nations and they would be God's people. Paul spoke of such a people with
reference to the church in 2 Cor. 6: 16.
Moreover, Christ brought peace and reconciliation between Jew and Gentile by His blood in the one body which is the church (Eph. 2). It is through Him that all men can "have access by One Spirit unto the Father" and reconciled to God
