God Wants Regular Giving |
||
We are to give on
the first day of the week (1 Cor. 16: 1, 2). This is so logical inasmuch
as Christians meet for worship on that day to observe the Lord's Supper as
well. Unlike the Lord's Supper, which is exclusively observed on Sunday,
we are not prohibited from giving as other times. "Let us to good
unto all men, " NOTICE, "as we have therefore opportunity"
(Gal. 6: 10). That may call for frequent giving.
There is strength in the regularity of giving just as there is strength in the regularity of assembly and engaging in the items of worship authorized by God. Contributions may be taken more often than just the first day when the needs demands it. There is no wrong in that, but it may not always be expedient. |
