Happiness in Endurance |
||
The message of the
gospel is the eternal happiness that shall be enjoyed by those who obey
the gospel and remain faithful until death. Then the rewards of patiently
enduring whatever comes but remaining loyal to Christ will be realized to
the fullest.
But is there not joy abundant even while we live on earth in being faithful? The very knowledge that you are exercising patience (endurance), like Job, is a rewarding benefit. To know that each day you live you are walking with God and doing as you ought gives immeasurable comfort as well as build renewed determination to continue just that way. Peter wrote, "Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy" (1 Peter 5: 12). Now this truth ought help us today to be faithful to Christ. If we be faithful today we shall consider tomorrow when it comes- if it does. |
