He is Coming Soon? Really? |
||
The Bible teaches
Jesus is coming. But when you add "soon" you go too far.
"But of that day and hour knoweth no man; no not the angels of heaven
but my Father only... Therefore be ye ready, for in such an hour as ye
think not the Son of man cometh...Watch therefore, for ye know what hour
your Lord doth come...Watch therefore for you know neither the day nor the
hour wherein the Son of man cometh" (Mt. 24: 36, 42, 44; 25: 13).
One prominent and irrefutable conclusion from these passages is that all this talk about the "imminent coming of Christ," "Christ is coming soon," "the signs of the times" that are supposed to pre-announce His arrival are just so much speculative false teaching. None know and none can tell when it will be. What the Scriptures taught when written they teach now. They did not teach Christ was coming soon when written nor do they teach that now. He will come but it is nothing but sensational error to preach He is coming soon. We ought not sing that way either. |
