How to Prove It |
||
Among the may
subjects Paul brought to the attention of the church in Corinth in First
Corinthians was the matter of giving. Chapters eight and nine have much to
say concerning giving, how to give, motives, blessings and the need. In
verse twenty-four of chapter eight he said their giving would show
"the proof of your love."
When we love somebody we enjoy giving gifts to them that they would appreciate. It is a manner of expression of our affection. Paul urged the brethren to give because there was a need. He had boasted of them for their intentions and was encouraging them to carry out what they intended. By doing so they would show love for God, His cause, and their brethren. What was true of them is also true of Christians today. |
