Hurting Your Parents

In spite of God teaching us to honor and respect our parents there are many who seek not to mind hurting their parents. How do they do this? They do this by their evil behavior and disregard of the teaching parents have tried to provide them. It is an abominable thing. It is so evident among so many in our day.

"A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother," (Proverbs 10: 1). In their desire to be "grown up" and independent some children must think that defiance and disrespect for parents brings them what they desire. It does not. It only shows how ungrateful and sinful such children are. It is to their shame.

There is no greater blessing than children who love God and respect their parents. On the other hand, children who go the other direction should bow their head in shame and correct their evil ways before they destroy their own souls as well as break the hearts of loving parents.
