If We Never Meet Again

One of our songs of hope and assurance begins with the phrase of our title. It expresses confidence that brothers in the Lord who are faithful and true to Christ, and who may not see one another again in the world, still have the Lord's promise that they will be together in heaven.

I read a story of two brothers who did foreign mission work together for years and they usually separated with these sentiments toward each other. It kept them tied closely in spirit, showed a brother's love, and displayed their longing and expectation of an eternal home with the Lord and the redeemed. Such is truly in the heart of every faithful Christian.

Inevitably there will come the time when we will not meet our beloved brethren again on this side of Jordan. But we can make our calling and election sure to see them once again if only we be found faithful.
