Ignorance Played a Role |
||
There were several
reasons why Jesus was rejected by the Jews. But their ignorance
contributed to it. When Nicodemus suggested Jesus should be heard before
being condemned, they asked, "Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and
look; for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet" (John 7: 52).
Because Jesus' home was in Nazareth of Galilee they thought He was always just a Galilean. They were ignorant of the fact He was born in Bethlehem in Judea, as the prophets had foretold He would be. Their ignorance, coupled with their prejudice, would not allow them to consider the multiple evidences Jesus presented proving His identity as the Son of God and the promised Messiah. Ignorance and prejudice cause many today to reject the Christ. Why will not people consider the irrefutable proof offered and receive Him? |
