It Did Not Stop Them |
||
In Acts chapter four
we are told of the opposition the priests and Saducees had to the
preaching of the gospel by the apostles. They even put them in jail. But
multitudes heard the word and believed.
They questioned the authority of the apostles but were told the apostles did what they did by the authority of Christ. They spoke of salvation only through Christ. The opponents did not know what to do with them. They threatened them and told them to "speak henceforth to no man in this name." Did they stop? They continued to preach "the word of God with boldness." Multitudes continued to respond. All the opposition raised against them deterred them not for a moment. They knew this tenacity and determination was necessary to enable the world to hear the gospel. We must see things as did they if we get the gospel to the lost today. |
