It Did Not Work For Them

Cain tried to pretend innocence even when guilty. When God asked him about Abel he answered like he did not know anything about what happened to him. But it did not work for him. Nor will it work for us.

Achan tried to hide in his tent the stolen goods he took from the spoils of Jericho. Those spoils belonged to the Lord's treasury. But he was discovered. Attempting to hide his sin did not work for him. Will it work for us?

Ananias and Saphirra lied about what they had given in order to cover their greed. Peter said they had lied to the Holy Spirit. Lying did not work for them. Why do people think lying will work for us?

Over and over the Bible tells of those who have tried to cover their sins by committing additional sins. But the attempt to cover sins the wrong way did not work for them. Nor will it work for us.
