Jeremiah Shows Two Ways |
||
Jeremiah 17:5,
"Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm,
and whose heart departeth from the Lord."
Jeremiah 17:7, "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is." Throughout Scripture this contrast is repeated over and over, Old and New Testaments. Why is it that we do not rely on the Lord but think we can have confidence in the ways concocted by men? We may say we trust in the Lord. But our trust manifests itself in our obedience. To say we trust Him and not obey Him is to only deceive ourselves. "Why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46). Why is it so hard to persuade people we MUST obey the will of the Lord? |
