John Knew His Place |
||
A problem manifested
by many is they put themselves in a place where they do not belong, do not
deserve, and should not be. Often, being puffed up with pride and conceit,
some push themselves forward into what they consider prominence and think
themselves "somewhat" when actually they are demonstrating great
folly by being out of place.
Jesus said none was greater than John the Baptist. But this man knew his place and understood his work. He said relating to Christ, "He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30). He also cited in the next verse, "He that cometh from above is above all." John had many disciples, baptizing many people in his preparatory work of making way for the coming Christ. But he never got out of place, promoting himself to be what he was not, and always filled his role with obedience and humility. Would we all could be as wise as John. |
