Less Noble Than Ahab |
||
The Bible student
knows how corrupt and wicked Ahab was, alongside his infamous wife
Jezebel. How could anybody be less noble than Ahab? Nobility and Ahab
simply do not go together.
But when Elijah proposed a contest between himself as God's prophet and the false prophets of Baal, Ahab was at least willing for the contest to take place. Although he was more wicked than all the kings before him he was willing to allow truth and error be compared. Many today are not that open about their own convictions. They are fearful of comparison. As a result, many just go along without whatever they happen to believe and think all is well. But asked to considered their faith to that presented in Scripture they soon reveal their contempt for Scripture and will not even consider letting the contest take place. They prefer to remain blinded. |
