Let God be True |
||
If you are a regular
reader of DAILY NOTES you have noticed they have not been so daily lately.
Other matters that have consumed my time have made it difficult to get
even this little work on the pages every day. But we want to understand
what is taught in Scripture.
Paul said, "Let God be true and every man a liar" (Rom. 3:4). He was not seeking permission for God to be true. He is already that. He is seeking man to recognize that. He is not wanting men to be liars but in comparison to God that's all they could be. It is a teaching on authority. God is true. Men are not the authority. The issue of religious authority has been a problem for man since Eden. So many give lip-service to God as Supreme but too often they knock God off His throne and up with self. Paul deplores that in this verse and warns against it. |
