Like a Heath |
||
The Word defines the
difference between those who trust God and those who do not. Jeremiah
compared Judah to be like a heath. What did he mean?
In Jeremiah 17: 5-8 he compared those who trusted man to a heath, a scrubby, useless, dried and withered plant found in the desert. Those who trust God are like a tree planted by the waters. This is similar to what Psalm 1: 3 teaches, "He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water..." We can easily see the distinction. Judah was threatened by Babylon and relied on aid from Egypt to survive rather than God. People today rely on the unreliable to save them. They are like a heath. Only God can provide for man what man needs. A person turns his back on his only hope when he does not serve the Lord. Don't be a heath. |
