The other day I made
a small purchase for $1.40. I gave the clerk what I thought was $1.50,
expecting ten cents change. She gave me $1.10. I told her she had given me
a dollar too much. She then said, "No, you gave me a dollar too
much." Two one dollar bills had stuck together and I thought I had
given her but one.
I said, "I never would have known." Then she said, "Maybe not, but I would." That, my friend, is spelled honesty. As I thought on her goodness I also recalled that God would have known and her good conscience had been trained to respect that. Maybe there is more good in the world than it first appears. |
