Not a Good Way to Choose |
||
A recent article by
one who was advocating a daily Bible reading habit (that is a good idea),
he suggested taking the Bible and just letting it fall open to whatever
page and then begin reading from that page. (It has been advised to not
focus on the reading but just sit quietly and wait to see what God might
say to you on some way. How foolish!)
Just think about that for a minute. Would such a practice ever bring one to a knowledge of the things he needs? Have you ever just let your Bible fall open? How many times did Genesis or Revelation turn up? Had you just a soon read from a genealogy as the Sermon on the Mount? Sometimes people with probably good intentions reflect so little judgment. Intelligent decisions are useful when learning to "rightly divide the word of truth." Random openings does not fit that criteria. |
