Not All Turned Away |
||
It does seem that
the gospel is dismissed and ignored by most people who hear it. Some even
attend worship services and hear the truth presented but it makes no
difference to them. They are so steeped in their own way that the saving
message of God is nothing to them. Just how and when they decided they
know better than God, that God wasted His time sending Christ, that all
Jesus did is for nothing, is difficult to tell. But the fact remains that
they turn away and continue their way to hell.
So it was when the early church was presenting the gospel. But not everyone treated it with contempt and disobedience. Acts 4: 4, "Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand." Doubtless those five thousand, though a large number, were a distinct minority. But they were the saved ones and the others will know that someday and realize their folly. |
