Not the Meaning |
||
Recently our class
was studying what the Bible teaches about hope. We reached Proverbs 29:20,
"Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope for
a fool than of him."
After class one man came to me and said in a very deliberate southern drawl (this should be read very slowly), "I sure am glad I was born in the South. I don't talk hasty." Hardly the meaning! But he had a sense of humor, didn't he? We would all probably do much better, avoid problems and be more helpful if we gave heed to the admonition in James 1:19, "Wherefore, my beloved, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath." |
