Obedience Involves Spirit |
||
With some obedience
simply means doing what you are told. But people may physically force
actions upon a person against their will. That kind of obedience is not
all God wants. An officer may command a recruit to do something and he
does it but unwillingly. We must do what God says, the way God says do it,
for the reason He says (if it is revealed), and with a willing spirit,
motivated by love and with sincerity.
Obedience is not just going through the physical motions. It involves the attitude of heart. Why do we do what God says? That question is important and it matters. The Lord wants deeds but also motives. |
