One of Four |
||
There will always be
a special place of recognition for Mary, the mother of Jesus. One of her
contributions was the magnificent praise of the Lord she offered just
prior to the birth of the Christ (Luke 1). But there were three other
women whose praise of God is also recorded for us in Scripture. One was
that of Miriam as she led the women in song after the deliverance of
Israel from Egypt (Exodus 15). Another was that of Deborah upon the defeat
of Jabin, the Canaanite (Judges 5). Then we read of the marvelous words of
Hannah after she "lent" Samuel to the Lord (First Samuel 2).
Women have always played a prominent role in service to God. Christ reestablished the dignity and role of women with His gospel. These four of the Old Testament are significant examples of godly womanhood. |
