The Poverty of Leadership |
||
Prior to the fall
and captivity of Judah there was a sore evil throughout the land that was
caused by their leadership. We read of how the priests, pastors, princes
and prophets misled the people in ways that appealed to the ignorant,
naive and blind public and how the prophets of God who called them to
righteousness were ignored and ridiculed.
We see a similar situation in our land today. Too man religious leaders are too much like the political leaders to be of any benefit to the welfare of the nation. Some say they believe in Christ but deny what Scripture says of Him and dismiss His teaching as being irrelevant. Jesus said, "And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? (Luke 6: 46). The compromise and surrender of God's truth before an evil, skeptic and rebellious people will only produce the same result it produced for Judah. Many religious leaders are part of our problem rather than a solution.
