Present While Absent |
||
Paul wrote,
"For though I be absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the
spirit..." (Col. 2: 5). Even though Paul was not in the immediate
physical presence of those whom he loved, in his heart and mind he was
ever with them and them with him. What a comforting and encouraging
thought when circumstances necessitate our separation from our loved ones.
In reality, we are never alone. Even when we are not with those here on earth with whom we wish to associate, our Lord is near and He is not far from any of us (Acts 17: 27). He is mindful of our situation as well as that of others about whom we have concern. The spiritual presence of each other and that of our Savior is one of the blessings we have in Christ. As our Lord was about to ascend into heaven He said to His apostles, "Lo. I am with you alway" (Mt. 28: 20). Let us rejoice in this blessing today and look forward to a renewal of presence with loved ones, if it be God's will. We will always be with Him if we be true. |
