Put Away the Childish |
||
The Holy Spirit
through Paul used a number of ways to teach us that we are no longer under
the Mosaic Law but under the will and testament of Christ. In First
Corinthians chapter thirteen he presented the former law as like the time
of childhood. But children grow to maturity and when they do they put away
those things pertaining to their childhood.
Likewise the law God gave Israel served for a time for that nation but it was not the perfect plan of salvation God designed before the foundation of the world. It simply led to that better covenant. The new covenant is "that which is perfect." The old covenant served its purpose but is like the childish things that are now put away. The full and complete system of salvation for man is before us in the New Testament. To see God in His glory in heaven we must follow that. |
