Ready or not

Ready or not, here I come!

This little phrase used in the game of "hide and seek" could well be spoken by Death. Ready or not, death will come. Does that strike you with fear? Possibly so! It may be because you are not prepared to face death. But that will not mean death is not coming to you. You know the passage of Hebrews 9:27.

Paul said he was ready to die (2 Tim. 4: 6-8). When he said it he was ready. That had not always been true of him. Peter said he was ready to die (Matt. 26: 31-35). When he said it he was not ready as he thought he was.

Why was Paul qualified to say he ready? He was in Christ. How did he get into Christ? He had been baptized into Christ. He had divorced himself from the evils of this world and had spent his life in faithful service before God.
