Rejoice With Others

Romans 12: 16 teaches us to "Rejoice with them that do rejoice.." It would seem that the only thing that would one from rejoicing over the good fortunes of another is jealously. Who cannot be glad when somebody else receives good things? Possibly sometimes people cannot be truly glad because they wish the good things had happened to them.

It is not wrong to desire good things to come our way. But it is wrong that we would want the good things only for ourselves and become ruffled when good things go to others.

Rather than being jealous and envious, we ought to rejoice when other succeed in what is right and honorable. Just keep in mind that there is rejoicing in heaven over one who repents (Luke 15: 7).
