The Restoration Idea |
||
The idea behind
restoration is to put back into its original place. That which is called
the Restoration Movement is to put the church of Christ into its original
place. Men with names of Stone, Campbell, Scott, Smith and others reminded
the world that we should speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where
the Bible is silent, "speak as the oracles of God" (1 Pet. 4:
11).
It is the call for the Bible as sole authority in matters religious because it is the Word of God. It is to sow the seed of the kingdom, the Word of God (Luke 8:11) which produces the kingdom or church (Col. 1: 13). The gospel, without addition or subtraction, is God's power unto salvation (Rom. 1: 16) without the baggage of human doctrines and denominations, but in the body of Christ, the church of the New Testament. |
