The Return of the Lost Sheep |
||
This week our
congregation is enjoying VBS and our theme is Christ, the Good Shepherd. I
cannot think of anything that shows to us the attitude of God over the
restoration of a fallen Christian more than the account of the lost sheep
that was found. Notice the Shepherd did not quit looking for it. This is
the way of our Lord toward the one who drifts away. So it should be with
us.
Notice also the tenderness and care (carrying the sheep back to safety) and the rejoicing that took place. Such rejoicing characterizes both heaven and earth when one who has fallen comes home. It is a most comforting concept that we have a Shepherd who is that concerned for us should we stumble and get lost. He does not hate us, although He surely is disappointed in us. But He seeks for us and we can be found. |
