The Right Place |
||
"Take heed to
thy self that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou
seest: but in the place which they Lord shall choose in one of thy tribes,
there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all
that I command thee," (Deut. 12: 13, 14). It mattered where they
worshipped. This was a command in view of living in Canaan. Neither the
high places of idolatrous worship nor places of their choosing would be
acceptable.
But "place" seems such an arbitrary and small matter, doesn't it? Not to God. He commanded and expected obedience. Is He any different today concerning His commands? Who can set any of them aside as "small?" This is an obvious view to the tabernacle and temple in their future. But we learn from it that whatever God directs, that's it. Take heed! |
