Sins of the Tongue |

Sins of the tongue
are prevalent among all of us. Just why some think it smart to curse,
swear, spew profanity, vulgar and filthy speech is bewildering.
Intelligent people can adequately express themselves without stooping into
the sewer for their words. (That may be part of the trouble.) You would
think from listening to the "prominent" in society that filthy
communication is a mark of nobility. We can emphasize what we are saying
without being trashy.
"Swear not at all," (Matt. 5: 34). "By thy words thou shalt be justified and by thy words thou shalt be condemned," (Matt. 12: 37). "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain," Exo. 20: 7). James chapter three devotes itself to much teaching regarding the misuse of the tongue and the regulation of our speech. "Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be." |
