Some Mocked |
||
Acts the seventeenth
chapter reports Paul's sermon in Athens where he preached the resurrection
of Christ. The reaction of some was that they mocked the message. Now,
what did that change? Christ did not crawl back into the tomb because of
the skeptics. The inspired apostles did not quit risking their lives to
proclaim this truth that confirms Jesus to be the Son of God. Their denial
did not keep people from coming to Christ. All their mocking did was to
assure their eternity in hell.
It is the same way with the "smart" people of today who cannot handle the resurrection of Christ in any intelligent or honest fashion but resort to mockery. What do they change? They certainly do not change the truth regarding Christ. But they do accomplish what the mockers accomplished in Athens. They assure their eternity in hell. |
