Some Wise; Some Otherwise |
||
"The fear of
the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 1:7). The measure of
intelligence does not determine the level of wisdom. There are many
"smart" fools who even deny the evidence so conclusive of the
existence of God (Psalm 14:1). None are so foolish as that
"wise" scholar who think he knows everything and flaunts his ego
to the point of disgust.
Knowledge and application of the will of God in one's life identifies that person as a wise person (Ephesians 5:17). One may heap upon himself academic degrees, fame, fortune, power, whatever and remain a fool. In fact, most of the world is under the control of just such people. True wisdom comes from God through Christ (James 1:5; Colossians 2:3). Why someone who professes to be wise would exclude himself from the source of wisdom is really a human puzzle. But they exist everywhere.
